KEOTA ? Thomas Ray Thompson, 83, of Keota, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, at his home.
Celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 2, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota with the Rev. Joe Hohenshell officiating. Burial will be at Keota Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. A general memorial has been established. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Thompson was born Sept. 20, 1933, near Richland, the son of Claude and Viola (Hobbs) Thompson. He married Sandra Whetstine on July 28, 1957, in What Cheer. The couple moved to Keota in 1967, where he worked for Dennis Tinnes Trucking and Kaiser Ag as a truck driver.
Surviving are four children, Charlotte Hagans and husband Terry of Keota, Fredia Haines and husband Everette of Wellman, Tommy Thompson of Keota, and Michelle Flynn and Brad Mahan of Wellman; one son-in-law, Alonzo ?Lonnie? Milam of Keota; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister, Peg Miller and husband Ron of North English; one brother-in-law, Charles Whetstine and wife Susan of Solon; and two sisters-in-law, Carol Whetstine of Iowa City, and Marjorie Tyree of San Antonio, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandra, in 2015; one daughter, Debbie Milam; one son-in-law, Mike Flynn; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Leona Hudson, and Mary Wilkins; one brother, Edward; and many other loved ones.
