TIMOTHY JOHN (TJ) HORAK

Timothy John (TJ) Horak, 74, of Mesa, Arizona, died Monday, July 20, 2020, of a medical complication. Tim was born July 13, 1946, in Washington, Iowa, to Paul and Alida Horak. In 1965,

Tim married Mary Ellen Luckenbill. They had six children together. They divorced in 1988.

Tim was a Jack-of-all-trades and held many different jobs throughout his career. He was a salesman in the agricultural field and worked at Yoder Feeds in Frytown.

He was a cook, caterer, and events coordinator at the Knights of Columbus Hall for many years and he was the owner and operator of T.J.'s Supper Club, both in Washington, Iowa. Upon retirement, Tim moved to Arizona where he met his friend, Mona McCune, with whom he shared his life for 31 years, until her passing in 2018.

Tim was preceded in death by his father, Paul R. Horak; mother, Alida J. (VanderVennet) Horak; his friend, Mona McCune; and his daughter, Suzanne Alexandra Horak.

Tim is survived by his 3 brothers, Jerry Horak (Abby) of Emporia Kansas, Dick Horak (Barb) of Washington, Iowa, and Tom Horak (Marsha) of Bella Vista, Arkansas. He also is survived by his 5 children, Todd Horak (Julia) of New Lenox, Illinois, CJ Horak of Crawfordsville, Iowa, Holly Jones (Craig) of Washington, Iowa, Patrick Horak (Laura) of Quincy, Illinois, and Theresa Dubois (Ron) of River Forest, Illinois. Tim had 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on July 13, 2021 on Tim's 75th birthday at Lake Odessa in Wapello, Iowa. Donations for Hospice, Ducks Unlimited, and Lake Odessa Wildlife will be accepted at 2344 265th Street, Washington, IA 52353.
