Timothy R. Detweiler, 71, of Washington, IA, passed away at home surrounded by his family, ending his cancer journey June 17, 2023.

Tim was born in Burton, OH, to Rudy and Mahala (Mullet) Detweiler. Tim was united in marriage to Carol (Bachman) July 1, 1977. They treasured life together for nearly 46 years.

Tim found deep meaning in his work as a pastor in Colorado, Iowa, and Montana, and as a Conference Minister for Central Plains Mennonite Conference.

He enjoyed fishing, woodworking projects, and sharing in laughter and play with his adoring grandchildren.

Tim’s memory will be carried on by his wife Carol; their children, Nathan (Karla Stoltzfus) of Tiskilwa, IL, Erika (Nick Stoddard) of Washington, IA, and Caleb (Heidi Gingerich) of Parnell, IA; grandchildren, Isaiah & Mahala Stoltzfus Detweiler, Eli, Jace & Luke Detweiler Stoddard, and Simon, Reid & Ingrid Detweiler. Siblings; Barb (Cleo) Miller of Nampa, ID, Mary (George) Dunn of Pandora, OH, Sadie (Don) Buckwalter of Archbold, OH, Martha (Leland) Earnest of Caldwell, ID, Lois (Everett) Earnest of Nampa, IA, Tom (Cheri) Detweiler of Middlefield, OH, and Rudy (Tonia) Detweiler of Delano, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his stepmother, Anna Detweiler.

Visitation will take place Monday, June 26, from 2-4 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. at Washington Mennonite Church, Washington, IA. Funeral service will take place Tuesday, June 27, at 10 a.m. at East Union Mennonite Church, Kalona, IA. The service will be available via Livestream at the Beatty Peterseim Facebook and Youtube pages.
