Timothy Thomas (Tim) West was born at Washington County Hospital in Washington, Iowa on September 28, 1964 to Tom and Judy (Westen) West from West Chester, Iowa. In 1978 Tim and his parents moved to Springdale, Arkansas where he attended Central Junior High and graduated from Springdale High School in 1983. After graduation Tim joined the U.S. Marine Corps and after his training in Camp Pendleton, California and Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He was stationed at Twenty-Nine Palms, California.

In 1986 he returned to Arkansas and managed Western World in Fayetteville for six years. Tim graduated from cosmetology school and co-owned the W R Hair Salon for many years. After losing the salon to a fire on Christmas Morning in 2022, he brought to life Salon West, a beautiful space where he continued his hair styling while hosting his friends for countless happy hours, deep conversations and too many laughs to count until his untimely death on May 4, 2024.

Tim never met a stranger and was dearly loved by his family and friends, which included every single one of his clientele. His family and friends were all made better for having lived life with him. His family also included his fur babies, whom you would see on leashes walking downtown with him or sitting at clients’ feet at the salon.

Tim is survived by his mother Judy West of Kalona, Iowa, his father and second mom, Tom and Rhonda West of Springdale, Arkansas, his stepsister LaDonna (Bill) Mills of Ozark, Arkansas, his closest confidants and friends, Mandy Hunt and Patrick Riley, his dog Rae, cats Chester and Walter and all his dear friends. Extended family members surviving him are his aunts and uncles: Barb (John) Ramsey, Karen (Tom) Hobbs, Marty (Joyce) Westen, Rob (Rhonda) West, Nancy West, and many first and second cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wilber and Margaret West Lukavsky, Walter and Florence Westen, Uncle Steve West, and Uncle Larry (Pokey) West.
