Tonch Heartsill October 25, 1919 - February 23, 2004
Tonch Heartsill, 84, of Salem, died on Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, at his home.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Tom Palmer officiating. Burial will be in Salem South Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials have been established to the Parkinson's Foundation, the American Heart Association and the Lewelling Quaker Museum.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Chris and his wife Betty Heartsill of Salem, Harold and his wife Janet Heartsill of Dade City, Fla., and Greg and his wife Angie Heartsill of Chariton; two daughters, Linda and her husband Dick Smith of Mt. Pleasant, and Judy Odom of Moore, Okla.; two stepchildren, Charles Brown of Cedar Rapids, and Christine and her husband Kenny Sylvester of Salem; 13 grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren; and a sister, Velma Bennett of Hayward, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a half sister, five sisters, four brothers and a granddaughter.
