Tonya Benedict June 16, 1990 - May 8, 2005

Tonya Jo Benedict, 14, of Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday, May 8, 2005, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

      The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 12 at Calvary Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant, with Pastor Brian Swafford officiating. Burial will be in Hillsboro Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 11 at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Antioch Independent Church, the Children's Miracle Network, The Heart Connection Camp or to Relay For Life.

Survivors include her parents; two brothers, Zack McAdams and Alex Benedict, both of Mt. Pleasant; grandparents, Richard and Jan Benedict of Mt. Pleasant, Mary Sue Hoaglin of Fairfield, and Walt and Marilyn Cary of Washington, Il.

      She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents and an aunt, Janey Benedict.
