Tracy G. Altenhofen, 59,
of Washington, went home to be with his mother Sandy on, Friday, January 7, 2022, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington. A private family service will be held Friday, January 14, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. The service will be available via Livestream on the Beatty Peterseim Facebook page. The family will greet friends from 4 to
6 p.m. on Thursday, January 13, at the Beatty Funeral Home. Masks are required at visitation and the service. Memorial donations can be given to the United Presbyterian Home or Hospice of Washington County.
Tracy Gene Altenhofen was born April 11, 1962, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Leslie Gene and Sandra K. (Dawson) Altenhofen. He graduated from Iowa City West High School in 1981. He worked at Goodwill in Iowa City and then moved back to Washington where he worked at Hy-Vee, WCDC and retired from the United Presbyterian Home after 20 years. Tracy enjoyed his retirement at Lending Hands and a brief time at WCDC. The U.P. Home welcomed Tracy back with open arms for the remainder of his days. There he enjoyed watching Star Wars, Gilligan's Island and the Dallas Cowboys. Tracy was a kind soul with a heart of gold who will be missed be everyone that had the honor of knowing him.
Survivors include his father, Leslie (Barb) Altenhofen; stepfather, Mac Conrad; five siblings, Toni McNair, Nancy Rich, Mark (Lisa) Conrad, Susan (Mike) Bacon and Sean (Jennifer) Wallerich; a number of nieces and nephews and special caregivers Rick and Bert Jaspering.
Preceding Tracy in death was his mother, Sandra Conrad, on January 8, 2021; his brother, Brian Conrad; and a brother-in-law, Jim Rich.
