Tracy was born in Washington, the first child of Gene and Betty Lintz of Crawfordsville.
She grew up on the family farm east of Crawfordsville and spent childhood days doing Girl Scout activities, tending her horses, creating 4-H projects, entertaining her cousins, inventing games with her brothers, and helping her family to build a successful business. She was the unofficial historian, organizer and record keeper for her family. She loved to read, travel, entertain, fish, play marbles, take pictures, cheer for the Texas Longhorns and the Iowa Hawkeyes, and hunt for oceanic treasure at Cedar Bayou on the coast near Rockport, Texas. She was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church in Winfield.
She graduated from WACO High School in Wayland in 1986. During high school she was active in volleyball, basketball, track, and softball. She attended the University of Iowa and graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and accounting. In 2007 she earned her Master of Business Administration degree from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas, Austin. Her education and strong work ethic she learned growing up on the farm shaped her business career. She worked as an operations analyst for BP Amoco from 1990 to 1993, and for Emerson Process Management from 1993-2011. While at Emerson, she worked in Marshalltown; Chicago, Illinois; and St. Louis, Missouri. In 2000 she moved to Austin, Texas, where she spent the remainder of her career at Emerson serving in executive positions including vice president of finance. After leaving Emerson, she served as chief financial officer for Glenmount Global Solutions and for Draker Inc., both in Austin. The final appointment of an illustrious career was as chief financial officer of Goodwill Industries Central Texas.
