Truman Beckler

      Truman Beckler, 82, of rural Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, at his home.

      The committal service will be held Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at 10:15 a.m. at Bethel Cemetery. A Celebration of Life memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at Bethel Church, with the Rev. Phil Slabaugh and the Rev. Herb Yoder officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at Bethel Mennonite Church, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. that evening. Memorials have been established to Bethel Mennonite Church and Great River Hospice of Burlington. Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant is in charge of arrangements.

      Mr. Beckler was born Jan. 1, 1923, in Wood River, Neb., to Ira and Marian (Boshart) Beckler. On Dec. 12, 1948, he married Edna Unternahrer in Wayland.
