Valera Eldora Logan

      Valera Eldora Logan, 79, of Des Moines, died of leukemia Friday, Nov. 29, 2002 at her home.

      The funeral service was yesterday, Dec. 2, in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines. A memorial has been established for the Hospice of Central Iowa. Hamilton's Funeral Home in Des Moines was in charge of arrangements.

      Mrs. Logan was born July 30, 1923 in Putnam County, Mo., the daughter of Fern Crooks and Edgar Hurley. She married Junior Logan, who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker, and lived in Des Moines since 1960. She enjoyed gardening and growing flowers.

      Survivors include two sons, Larry Crawford of Stronghurst, Ill. and Garry Logan of Hartford; a daughter, Shirley Havelock of Galesburg, Ill.; three brothers, Jim Hurley of Mt. Pleasant, LaVern Hurley of West Point and Robert Hurley of Des Moines; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

      She was preceded in death by her husband.
