Velma G. Peterson

Velma Geraldine "Gerry" Peterson, 81, of Danville, formerly of Milan, Ill., died Monday, May 26, at the Danville Care Center.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 29, at Danville United Methodist Church with family present from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Patton officiating. A luncheon will be served at the church following the service. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in South Walker Cemetery in Burlington. Elliott Chapel in New London is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials have been established to Danville United Methodist Church, Trinity United Methodist Church in Milan and the Danville School Foundation.

She was born Feb. 13, 1927, in Burlington, the daughter of Roland O. and Mary House Baker. She married William Grinstead. They later divorced. On Oct. 25, 1968, she married Clarence Peterson at Grace United Methodist Church in Burlington.
