Velma Grace Cozart Threlkeld
Velma Grace Cozart Threlkeld, 86, died suddenly on Friday, May 13, 2011, at her home in rural Wellman.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 18,2011, at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. Pastor Martha Yoder will officiate. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home. A general memorial fund has been established.
Mrs. Threlkeld was born March 18, 1925 in Olin, Iowa. She was the daughter of Albert and Emma Olive (Sweitzer) Cozart. She graduated from Olin High School in 1943. Before she was united in marriage to Melvyn Lealdes Threlkeld on July 25, 1950, she worked in the Oskaloosa grocery store. He and her husband farmed in Mahaska and Iowa counties. She has lived in rural Wellman since 1966. Velma worked at Oral B for 20 years retiring in 1987
Velma is survived by one sister: Helen Lund of Clarence, three daughters: Barbara Threlkeld of Iowa City, Laurie Clayton of Spokane, WA, Virginia Threlkeld Larson of Hedrick, two sons: Danny Threlkeld of Wellman, Richard Threlkeld of Iowa City, 19 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvyn, a son, Kenneth, four brothers, Harold, Lester, Herbert, and Harlan Cozart, and a sister, Norma Kofron.
