Vera A. Budde

      Vera A. Budde, 82, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Mt. Union, died at 3:10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

      The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at Elliott Chapel in New London, with the Rev. Bob Hary officiating. Visitation will begin after noon on Monday, Dec. 18, at Elliott Chapel, with the family present from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery of Mt. Union. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, Trinity Cemetery Association or the Van Vorhies Haus Elevator Fund.

      Mrs. Budde was born Jan. 5, 1918, in Manning, the daughter of Charles and Rosa Sievers Stribe. She married Jack ?Charles John? Budde on Aug. 27, 1942, at Manning. She graduated from Manning High School and the University of Iowa. She was a homemaker and a dietitian at area nursing homes and hospitals. A member of Mt. Union United Methodist Church, she also belonged to United Methodist Women and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed the Prairie Queen Club, gardening, reading, and playing bridge.

      Survivors include three daughters, Sherry Kesselring of Iowa City, Mary E. Moon of Mt. Union and Susie Bopp of Fort Myers, Fla.; two sisters, Arlene Wood of Moville and Phyl Hodne of Irwin; a brother, Earl Stribe of Manning; and ten grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
