Vera A. Jarvis

Vera Amelia Jarvis, 87, of Washington, died Sunday, Jan. 6 in Washington following a short illness.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sue Meade officiating. A private family burial will take place at Sandy Hook Cemetery in rural Brighton.

Vera was born April 27, 1920 in Iowa City, the daughter of Taylor and Glennie Goodman Stout. On Oct. 8, 1939, she married Carl W. Jarvis in Brighton.

A graduate of Brighton High School, she attended Iowa State Teachers College. She was a homemaker and farm wife.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church. She also taught music lessons out of her home for many years.

She is survived by three sons, Jon Jarvis of Mt. Pleasant and Taylor Jarvis of Hayward, Calif., and Lane Jarvis of Pleasantville; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Her parents, husband, son Noel Jarvis, and brother Jesse Stout preceded her in death.
