Vera Jean Gumtow

LONE TREE - Vera Jean Gumtow, 84, of Iowa City, formerly of Lone Tree, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, in Windmill Manor in Coralville.

      Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, in the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree. Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery. Following the interment a time of food and fellowship will be held in the Lone Tree American legion. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the Safe Haven Animal Shelter in Williamsburg.

      Mrs. Gumtow was born Feb. 23, 1924, in Lone Tree, the daughter of John Larew and Ethel Stonebarger. She married Robert Harvey Gumtow in May of 1972 in Chicago, Ill.
