KALONA ? Verda Arlene Troyer, 90, of Kalona, died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, in the Pleasantview Home in Kalona.
Celebration of life service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Wellman Mennonite Church in Wellman with the Rev. Nathan Ramer officiating. Burial will be in the Wellman Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for Wellman Mennonite Church and Pleasantview Home. Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona is in charge of the arrangements.
Miss Troyer was born Dec. 2, 1925, in Shickley, Nebraska, the daughter of Lloyd and Emma (Kennel) Troyer.
When she was 14, her family moved to Wellman. She graduated from the Wellman High School in 1944. She worked at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in the dietary department for 39 years before retiring. She was a member of the Wellman Mennonite Church. She enjoyed traveling, going to Florida for a month in February, reading, crocheting, bowling, playing cards, watching the Hawkeyes, and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are one sister, Alta Troyer of Kalona; one sister-in-law, Vivian Troyer of Wellman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Nettie Fehlberg, Della Yoder, Ida Kliewer, and Wilma Becker; and four brothers, Ivan, Warren, Lloyd, and Wilbur Troyer.
