Verna Rhue Baird

Verna Rhue Baird, 76, formerly of Burlington, died Thursday morning, Jan. 27, 2005, at the Lutheran Homes at Muscatine.

      The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31 at the First Presbyterian Church in Burlington, with the Rev. Dr. Forrest Krummel officiating. Burial will follow in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30 at the First Presbyterian Church of Burlington. Memorial funds have been established to the First Presbyterian Church and the Alzheimer's Association. The Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include four daughters, Candy and her husband Gary Stineman of Winfield, Phyllis Baird of Denver, Colo., Becky and her husband Dale Wear of Burlington, and Jennifer and her husband Brian Reynolds of Davenport; a son, Kevin Baird of Denver, Colo.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Hazel Storm of Pittsburg, Kan., Janet Aldrich of Cedar Rapids, and Judy Bunney of Marion.

      In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Glenn and Lyle Thomas.
