Verne Harold Knecht

      CEDAR RAPIDS - Verne Harold Knecht, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, June 20, 2005, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness.

      Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m., Friday, June 24, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer officiating. Visitation will be this evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at Turner West Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials have been established for Habitat for Humanity or Heifer International Project.

      Mr. Knecht was born Nov. 1, 1915, in Wall Lake to John and Lillie (Weise) Knecht. He married Rosalia Capobianco on Oct. 3, 1942, in San Francisco, Calif.
