Vicki N. Wilson, 74, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at her home.
Vicki was born on May 14, 1949, in Burlington, the daughter of Lyle “Shorty” and Edith (Stafford) McKean. She graduated from Columbus Junction High School with the class of 1967. She then went on to Northeast Missouri State and received her degree in Physical Education. Vicki was united in marriage to Robert Jay Wilson on May 25, 1973, at the Green Cathedral in Crapo Park. While she was in high school she played basketball and later played volleyball with the Salt and Pepper League. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and yard sales. Vicki and Bob had a booth at the Rutledge Flea market for 22 years. Vicki retired after 33 years as an Activities Specialist from the Mental Health Institute. She had a knack for working with persons with mental illness. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.
Her family was a vital part of her life and she never knew a stranger. She never missed an activity that her grandchildren were involved in. Vicki will be remembered for her adventurous, loving and caring heart. She was a lover and loved by all.
Those thankful in sharing in her life include her husband of 50 years, Bob, her daughter, Erin and her husband Derik Housh, of Mt. Pleasant, her loving grandchildren, Kyler Wilson, Colton Wilson, Jayden Housh and Kale Housh, and her beloved dog, Tango.
Vicki is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Barry Jay Wilson and her brother, Charles Dewayne McKean.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant with Father Jacob Greiner as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant where the family will be present from 4 to 7 p.m. that evening. The family will also receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be directed to Shiner’s Children Hospital, Tunnel of Towers and St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in her memory.
