Victor "Vic" Ferrel, 85, of Fairfield, passed away Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. Celebration of Life Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at Behner Funeral Home. Dress casual and in Vic's honor if you have cowboy boots, please wear them. A memorial has been established with cards and memorials mailed to Linda Norton, 1914 Jackpine Loop, Fairfield, IA 52556.

Vic was born Dec. 6, 1936, to Ivyl and Wilda (Huffman) Ferrel. He married Karla Ulm on Dec. 22, 1959. This last year they celebrated 62 years of marriage.

Vic served in the Army and was stationed in Germany. He worked 40-plus years at Iowa Tire Sales and retired at 70. He also drove cars for RPM. Vic was a member of the Elks and Walton Club. Some of his outside activities were fishing, mushroom hunting, boating and gardening. Vic collection of coins started from his success from using his metal detector. He also enjoyed playing cards. Vic followed the St. Louis Cardinals, Minnesota Vikings and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Most important was spending time with his family and friends.

Vic will be missed by his wife, Karla of Fairfield; his children, Linda (Alan) Norton, Jeff (Terri) Ferrel and Steve (Mindy) Ferrel; seven grandchildren, Kathryn Seals, Jennifer Ollom, Ben Norton, Mike Wiseman, Cody Norton, Carter Ferrel and Libby Ferrel; and five great-grandchildren.

Vic was preceded in death by his parents, Ivyl and Wilda Ferrel; two brothers, Paul and Phil Ferrel; and sister, Marcene Ferrel.
