Viola E. Nichols

Viola E. Nichols, 84, formerly of Richland, died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at Park Place Long Term Care Center in Mt. Pleasant where she had been a resident since December 2001.

      The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22 at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua with the Rev. Bryan Wixom officiating. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21 at the funeral home, with family present one hour prior to the Saturday service. Memorials have been established to Hospice of Central Iowa and Vernon Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, Jerry Nichols of Centerville and Paul and his wife Peg Nichols of Richland; four daughters, Joylynn and her husband Jerry Smith of Hillsboro, Pat and her husband Dave Brem of West Burlington, Teresa and her husband Randy Coleman of Mt. Pleasant, and Tamara Vandevenne of Chariton; nine grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Marvin Hagebock of Valley City, N.D.; and two sisters, June Grant of Kenmare, N.D., and Joyce Cole of Hope.

      She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Clarence Hagebock; and three sisters, Velma Smith, Mildred Hartlett and Carol Fouche.
