Violet M. (Blick) Shalla

      Violet M. (Blick) Shalla, 87, of Washington, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, in the Washington County Hospital following a lengthy illness.

      Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, in the Jones-Eden Funeral home in Washington with the Rev. Kelly Allard officiating. Visitation will begin at noon Friday in the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Memory Garden Cemetery in Iowa City at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Washington County or to a fund for needy children in Washington.

      Mrs. Shalla was born Aug. 27, 1920, in Grace Hill, the daughter of Robert Lee and Ada Belle (Coates) Blick. She married Edward L. Shalla on Dec. 26, 1936, in Washington.
