Violet Messer Tallman

Violet Messer Tallman, 93, of Fairfield, died at 6:18 p.m. Saturday evening, July 8, 2000, at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, at the First Lutheran Church in Fairfield with the Rev. Hoyt Whitebread officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield. Visitation will begin Tuesday at the Behner Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the donor?s choice.

Mrs. Tallman was born May 21, 1907, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Garfield and Hilma Sodergren Messer. She married Orland L. Tallman January 14, 1933, in Monmouth, Ill. She graduated from Burlington High School in 1925, and received her teacher?s certification from Parson College. She was a teacher and a homemaker, and was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Fairfield.

Survivors include two sisters and one brother, Blanche Nelson of Burlington, Thelma Ridinger of Mt. Pleasant, and Howard Messer of Ft. Collins, Colo., as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and four brothers, Clifford, Paul, Wayne, and Russell.
