Vira J. 'Vi' Ehrhart
Vira J. "Vi" Ehrhart, 84, of Mt. Pleasant died at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2000, at the Henry County Health Center.
Memorial Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Nick Adam officiating. Interment will be held in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be held until 8:30 p.m. this evening at the Weir Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, where a Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. The family will receive friends after the Rosary until 8 p.m. this evening.
Mrs. Ehrhart was born Sept. 29, 1915, in Varina, the daughter of William A. and Louise Eberley Kenney. She married C.W. "Bill" Ehrhart on Jan. 10, 1946, in Quincy, Ill. She graduated from the Bird Island, Minn. High School in 1931 and from St. Thomas Academy Nursing School in St. Paul, Minneapolis, Minn. in 1934. She worked at a hospital in Minneapolis, Minn. before moving to Mt. Pleasant in the early 1940s. She worked at the Mental Health Institute in Mt. Pleasant for several years and at the I.A.A.P. in Middletown during the Korean War. She went back to work at the Mental Health Institute in Mt. Pleasant, retiring with over 30 years working as a Psychiatric Nurse. She was a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant and the Altar and Rosary Society.
Survivors include one daughter, Lois Drell of Carson City, Nev.; one step-daughter, Janet Hickman of Roseville, Ill.; two sons, Robert W. O'Hara of Freeport, Ill. and Kenneth "Butch" Ehrhart of Tempe, Ariz.; one brother, Ira Kenney of Hutchinson, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Francis Kenney; and one sister, Mary C. Ostlund.
