Virgil C. Smith

    Virgil C. Smith, 85, of Urbandale, died Monday, March 16, 2009, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington, from complications of Parkinson?s disease.

    Mr. Smith?s body has been donated to the University of Iowa deeded body program, and services will be held at a later date.  Burial will be at a later date at the Friends Cemetery near West Branch.  Memorials have been established for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson?s Research.  The Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.

    Mr. Smith was born May 7, 1923, in Iowa City, the son of William and Ethel (Curley) Smith.  He married Alice M. Pemberton on July 19, 1947, near West Branch.
