Virgil Ernest Vetter

      Virgil Ernest Vetter, 84, of Washington, died Sunday, July 18, 2004, at United Presbyterian Home in Washington, following a lengthy illness.

      Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 21, at St. James Catholic Church in Washington, with the Rev. Ed O'Melia officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Nichols, with military rites accorded. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, at Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Washington County Hospice or St. James Catholic Church.

      Mr. Vetter was born on Nov. 19, 1919, in Muscatine, to Ernest L. and Mary E. (Kennedy) Vetter. He married Jane Adams on May 31, 1952, in Washington.
