Virgil L. Braun

LONE TREE ? Virgil Lee Braun, 78, of Nichols, died Tuesday, March 15, 2016, in Atrium Village in Hills.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 18, at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree. Burial will be in the Nichols Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. A general memorial fund has been established at the funeral home.

Mr. Braun was born July 18, 1937, in Muscatine, the son of Harry and Felicitas (Mills) Braun. He married Donna Kay Owen on April 5, 1959, in Muscatine.

He was a 1955 graduate of Nichols High School. He was a farmer in the Nichols area his entire life and also worked at HON for two years. He was a member of the Nichols United Methodist Church and 4-H.

Surviving are his wife, Donna, of Hills; four children, Teresa Kessler and husband John of Altoona, Doug Braun and wife Cindy of West Branch, Vic Braun of Nichols, and Rita Gerot of Tiffin; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Plumb of Davenport, and Marilyn Baxter and husband Ron of DeWitt; seven nephews; and three nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three grandchildren.
