Virgil Morris

John Virgil Morris, 81, of Mt. Pleasant, died at 2:20 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004, at his home.

      A celebration of his life is being planned for a later date. The body has been deeded to the University of Iowa for medical research. Memorials have been established to the VA Hospital Volunteers in Iowa City and to Great River Hospice of Burlington. The Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Brian and his wife Darla Morris of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Bev and her husband Jim Benda of Mt. Pleasant; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a brother, Orville Morris of Fairfield; and a sister, Patty Jo Rose of Burlington.

      He was preceded in death by his parents.
