Virginia Crone
Virginia (McLaughlin) Crone, Age 91, passed away April 23, 2016.
Born in the family farmhouse in rural Washington, IA in 1925. Rode her Shetland pony to country school, sang solos in her United Presbyterian Church. Attended Monmouth College, Monmouth, IL, was a member of Alpha Xi Delta, sang lead soprano in college productions and was a vivid writer. After her Mother?s sudden death, returned to Washington, IA to care for her family and farm. Married Robert G. Crone, moved to West Des Moines, IA, attended Drake University; graduated with a Master?s Degree + Specialist in Elementary Guidance Counselling. Taught at Waukee, Booth, and Clive Elementary until retirement to Sun City, AZ. Spent summers in Logan, UT, was active in the Logan Opera House 21 years, and traveled the world, especially beloved Spain. After 25 years, moved back to Midwest, closer to family.
She is survived by her children, Robert ?Dan? (Diane) Crone of Adel, IA, Cynthia (Ron) Koepsel of Wichita, KS, Steven (Teri) Crone of Nashville, TN; sister, Mary Farrell of Tulsa, OK; sister-in-law, Dorla McLaughlin of Temple, TX; grandchildren, Dr. David Koepsel of Wichita, KS, Ashley (Phil) Shaw of Kansas City, KS, Jacquelin (Wyatt) Koepsel Schmidt of Omaha, NE, Jessica, Zachary, and Ryan Crone, all of Nashville, TN; and four cherished nephews.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, Donald and Zelpha Brook McLaughlin; her husband, Robert Crone; her brother, Robert McLaughlin; and her grandson, Rhinald Koepsel.
Burial at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, IA on Monday at 2:30pm. www.cochranmortuary.coM
