Virginia (Ginny) Anderson, 66, of Ames, passed away on Aug. 6, 2019. She was born on Sept. 15, 1952, in Fort Dodge, to the late Ralph and LaVonna Struthers. She graduated from West Bend High School in 1970. She

spent much of her adult life raising her three sons, working as the Salem Lutheran Church Secretary and later managing the Roland Grocery Store. Since 2002, she was employed with Iowa State University in the College of Engineering as an administrative assistant.

Ginny was an avid Iowa State Cyclone fan who could be found regularly attending football and basketball events. She shared this love with her sons and grandchildren by keeping everyone regularly outfitted in cardinal and gold. In addition, Ginny spent many hours with family and close friends. She was an attentive grandmother and made it a point to be present at milestones in each of their lives. Her free time was spent tending to landscaping projects where she perfected her green thumb. In recent years, she took up running and completed two half marathons and several 5K races.

She is survived by three sons, Clint Anderson and fiance Shannon Moore of Liberal, Kan., Chuck Anderson (Brooke) of Washington, Iowa, and Jeff Anderson (Kimberly) of Adel, Iowa; five grandchildren, Brielle, Alyvia, Ivy, James and Beckett; three siblings, Ron Struthers (Dorothy), Beverly Jensen and Vera Banwart (Blake); sister-in-law, Dorothy Struthers; 12 nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and -nephews; and many close friends.

She is preceded in death by her infant daughter, Stacy Lynn Anderson; her brother, Alan Struthers; and her parents, Ralph and LaVonna Struthers.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland, Iowa. Her funeral service will be held at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland on Friday, Aug. 9, 2019, at 11 a.m. A private family burial will be held at the West Bend Cemetery in West Bend, Iowa.

Memorial contributions can be made in her honor to Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center, Iowa.
