KALONA ? Virginia Marie Roth, 92, of Kalona, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015, in the Pleasantview Home in Kalona.
Celebration of life service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 5, at West Union Mennonite Church in rural Parnell with the Rev. Corey Miller and the Rev. Martha Yoder officiating. Burial will be in the West Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m., Friday at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for the West Union Mennonite Church and Washington County Hospice.
Mrs. Roth was born Jan. 8, 1923, in rural Parnell, the daughter of Ervin ?Roy? and Mary ?Mamie? (Yoder) Rensberger. She married Merton Roth on Aug. 10, 1947, at the West Union Mennonite Church.
She attended Greene Center School. She and her husband lived in Wellman for many years, where she was a homemaker and head cook at Pleasantview Home for several years. She moved to Kalona in 1988. She was a member of Sunshine Birthday Club, and of the West Union Mennonite Church, where she taught Sunday school, served on the church council, and was active in WMSC; and she volunteered at the Crowded Closet. She enjoyed cooking, reading, sewing, quilting, and spending time with grandchildren.
Surviving are three daughters, Carol Miller and husband Nelson of Riverside, Mary Stutzman and husband Harold of Kalona, and Joann Marner and husband Stan of Brighton; one son, Leslie Roth and wife Jeannette of West Des Moines; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Brenneman and husband Ron of Wellman; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merton, in 1988; one son, Dale Roth, in 1979; one grandson; two sisters, Dorothy Eash, and Ruth Litwiller; and four brothers, Lloyd Rensberger, Myron Rensberger, Leonard Rensberger, and Jake Rensberger.
