Vittetoe hits, blocks Demon netters to .500 mark
Washington senior hitter Brooke Vittetoe had a career night, notching 10 kills and two blocks, lifting the Demon volleyball team to a workmanlike 15-7, 15-11, 15-7 victory over Keokuk in Southeast Conference action last night at the Washington High School gymnasium.
The Demons (4-4 overall, 2-1 in league action) play in the Mediapolis tournament Thursday and the Ottumwa tournament Saturday. WHS trails conference-leading Mt. Pleasant by one game.
Vittetoe worked from both the middle and the outside while leading a balanced Demon attack which saw four players finish with at least four kills.
"That was definitely (Vittetoe's) best game, and that was one of the things I said in the locker room," Washington coach Aaron Six said. "She's really doing a nice job of getting on top of (the ball), and she had a few of them that were very close to the 10-foot line. If you can put them down with that type of power that close to the net, it's going to be tough for anybody to defend."
