Vivian D. Myers, 90, of Mt. Pleasant, died Friday, August 13, 2021, at her residence.

Private family services will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 N. Main St., Mt. Pleasant, which is assisting the family.

Mrs. Myers, the former Vivian Doris Smith, was born February 4, 1931 in Tippecanoe Township, rural Mt. Pleasant. She was the daughter of Melvin and Alice Smith. She received her education in the Mt. Pleasant School System. On April 7, 1949 in Mt. Pleasant, Vivian was united in marriage to Kenneth LaVerne Myers, Sr. Mr. Myers died Tuesday, February 24, 1987 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Vivian was a longtime homemaker. She was a home assembler for the former Metromail Corp. She helped people on a private basis with shopping, cleaning and transportation for appointments and shopping.

Vivian was a member of First United Methodist Church, and sewed the robes used by the children's choirs of the church. She also sewed all her girls' clothes. With her family, Vivian enjoyed their camping activities. Vivian was very dedicated to the music and sports activities of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending nearly all of the music concerts, contests and sporting events. When her boys were young, she served as a Cub Scout Den Mother.

At home, Vivian kept a little Japanese Garden. She loved to raise flowers, most especially roses. She liked to landscape. She also enjoyed listening to music and watching sports, most very especially, NASCAR races.

Those thankful for sharing in Vivian's life include 3 children and their spouses – Pam & Ron Carruthers of Mt. Pleasant, Diana & Ron Venghaus of Mt. Union, IA and John & Tina Myers of Mt. Pleasant; a son-in-law, Gary K. Johnson of Parkersburg, IA; 2 stepsisters – Patsy Royer and Donna Huston; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Her parents, husband, a daughter, Becky Johnson, a son, Kenneth Myers, Jr., 2 brothers and 2 sisters preceded Vivian in death.
