VIVIAN JOYCE BARTON HILDEBRAND

Dover, TN

Vivian Joyce Barton Hildebrand, 93, Dover, Tennessee, formerly of Wayland, passed away peacefully at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, on Thursday, January 27, 2022.

Vivian was born on March 2, 1928, the daughter of Roy and Minnie (Lamar) Barton

in Henry County, Iowa. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and received her teaching degree from Iowa Wesleyan College.

She was united in marriage to Willis L. (Bill) Hildebrand, August 6, 1949, at Faith Lutheran Church in Mt. Pleasant. She remained a member of the church for 59 years.

She taught school, worked as a secretary, and other positions during her life, and upon retirement, was working as an Assistant Librarian at WACO High School.

For most of her life, she was a member of the American Legion Ladies' Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, and several other clubs in Wayland. She loved cooking, sewing, reading, traveling with Bill, playing cards, dancing and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her loving family: two daughters, Judy (Paul) Birney and Mona (Dave) Grimes, both of Dover, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Keith Hildebrand, Kelli Oppelt, Kari Brown, Scott VanNess and Stacy Baumgartner; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Larry Hildebrand; one brother, Rex Barton; and two sisters, Wilma Eustice and Beryl Rich.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Burial will be in the Lockridge Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her memory. A memorial Service will be held at a later date.
