Vivian Marjory Battles, 82, of Mt. Pleasant died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at Park Place of the Henry County Health Center.

Burial was at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30 in Mitchellville Cemetery. Visitation was from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Beatty Funeral Home and from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Mitchellville United Methodist Church. Memorials have been established to the Animal Care Fund of Park Place.

Mrs. Battles was born March 26, 1917, at rural Maxwell, the daughter of Dave and Ida May Binkley Henning. She married Leland D. Battles on Dec. 29, 1939, in Farrar. They farmed in the Maxwell area, moving to Mt. Pleasant in 1955, where he was a sales manager for Pioneer Seeds. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Maxwell High School and the College of Cosmotology in Des Moines.

Survivors include a brother-in-law, Milton Alleman of Alleman; two sister-in-laws, Margaret Henning of Maxwell and Ladean Petefish of Ames. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Dean Henning.
