W.A. 'Willie' Marshall

      W.A. "Willie" Marshall, 76, of Brighton, died early Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

      A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Church of God in Brighton, with the Rev. Ryan Meader officiating. Burial, with military honors by American Legion Post No. 29 of Washington, will be in Sandy Hook Cemetery, north of Brighton.

      Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton, with the family present from 7-8:30 p.m. and a Masonic service at 8:30 p.m.

      Memorials have been established for the Brighton Volunteer Fire Department and Brighton Volunteer First Responders.

      Mr. Marshall was born Oct. 23, 1932, in Midland City, Ala., the son of Raymond E. and Dora Lee Jenkins Marshall. He married Hazel Ione Snider Feb. 17, 1965. She died Dec. 8, 1999.
