KALONA ? Wallace A. Borntrager, 82, of Kalona, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2016, while on vacation in Colorado at Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 31, at the Neal Borntrager home at 5570 Eagle Avenue in Kalona. Burial will follow at the Brenneman Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m., Monday, Aug. 29, at the Wallace Borntrager home, located at 1867 540th Street in Kalona; and visitation will also be held from 1 to 7 p.m., Tuesday at the Neal Borntrager home. Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona is handling the arrangements.
Mr. Borntrager was born Dec. 31, 1933, in Kalona, the son of Alton M. and Katie (Miller) Borntrager. He married Edna Mae Miller on Feb. 18, 1960.
He was baptized in the Old Order Amish Church in his youth and was a faithful member until his death.
Surviving are his wife, Edna; nine children and spouses, Verlin at home, Myron and wife Judy of Syracuse, Indiana, Loren and wife Gladys of Kalona, Leora Ropp and husband Duane of Hutchinson, Kansas, Myrna Miller and husband Merlyn of Riverside, Rosanna Yoder and husband Chester of Kalona, Rollin at home, Lorena Swantz and husband James of Kalona, and Nelson and wife Betty Sue of Kalona; 38 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and five siblings, Marvin Borntrager and wife Minerva, Mattie Miller and husband William, Anna Bender and husband Glen, Nelda Miller and husband Eldon, and Neal Borntrager and wife Anna Marie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Duane.
