Walter Forbes

Walter Forbes, 91, of Mt. Pleasant, died at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, at the Mapleleaf Healthcare Center in Mt. Pleasant.

      The funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Harold Dorsey officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, Oct. 8, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Beatty Funeral Home with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Louis Chapter of the American Parkinson?s Disease Association, and mailed to or left at the Beatty Funeral Home.

      Mr. Forbes was born Sept. 13, 1909, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Enzerleigh and Cora Bell Gregory Forbes. He married Alberta Wolfe on Feb. 11, 1932, at Rock Island, Ill. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, a lifelong farmer in the Hillsboro area, and for a time worked in the I.A.A.P. plant in Middletown.

      Survivors include two sons, Donald Forbes of Graham, Texas and Lawrence Forbes of Enfield, N.H.; a daughter, Joyce Hodges of Hillsboro; a sister, Nina Forbes of Red Bluff, Calif.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and a son, Richard Forbes.
