RIVERSIDE ? Walter ?Glenn? Mapp Jr., 55, of Riverside, formerly of Richmond, Virginia, died Thursday, May 19, 2016, at his home in Riverside.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 26, at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Riverside. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family in his memory.
Mr. Mapp was born April 2, 1961, in Norfolk, Virginia, the son of Walter Glenn Sr. and Barbara Jean (Bryan) Mapp. He married Kathy Lynn McGrory on June 28, 1991, in Norfolk, Virginia.
He worked in electrical sales and later worked in food and beverage sales, working his way up to district manager in the state of Virginia. He was a member of The Church in Riverside and the Harley Davidson Electra Glide Club. He enjoyed surfing, riding his motorcycle, playing tennis and softball, watching and playing football, and going to all of his children? sporting events; but most of all, he dearly loved to spend time with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Kathy, of Riverside; five children, Amanda Rector and husband Sam of Chesapeake, Virginia, Blayne Mapp of Riverside, Devin Mapp of Ames, Ian Mapp of Riverside, and Camron Mapp of Riverside; three grandchildren; his mother, Barbara Jean Mapp-Thigpen, and his stepfather, D.J., of Chesapeake, Virginia; six siblings, Teresa Mapp-Jones and husband Adrian of Chesapeake, Virginia, Barbara ?Sissy? Thigpen and husband D.G. of Maple, North Carolina, Debbie Hahn and husband Todd of Riverside, William ?Shawn? Mapp and wife Linda of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Ammie Lynn Neal and fiancé Rodney Hotz of Lone Tree, and Matthew ?Bubba? Thigpen and wife Christina of Fort Hood, Texas; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father.
