Walter L. Krotz, 84, of Ainsworth, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at the Halcyon House in Washington. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 14, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation

Walter Leroy Krotz was born on April 16, 1937, in Ainsworth, Iowa, the son of William and Geneva (Klein) Krotz. On June 9, 1959, Walter was united in marriage to Doris Jean Reha at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside. Walter was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and several square dance and coffee clubs. He especially enjoyed socializing, having coffee with his friends and spending time with his family-especially his siblings. In his earlier years, Walter tried his hand at farming and raising hogs. He enjoyed deer hunting, mushroom hunting, attending farm sales, and the outdoors. He also enjoyed doing carpentry work, having built their home and in his later years had a great time participating in lawn mower pulling competitions.
Walter will be deeply missed by his wife of 62 years, Doris Krotz; children, Christy (Gary) Gutierrez of Mt. Vernon, Don (Linda) Krotz of Ainsworth, Julie (Joe) Stransky of Riverside, Theresa (Dallas) Shalla of Riverside, Susan (John) Pacha of Washington, Dan Krotz of Hills, Deb (David) McGuire of Washington and Darlene (Andy) Morlan of Tiffin; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Evelyn Boyse of Wellman.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wilbur, Hubert, Leo, Leonard and Lloyd; and sisters, Viola and Amelia.
