Wanda Lou Nash, 79, of Washington, died Sunday, April 3, 2022, at the Bird House Hospice Home in Iowa City. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 7, at Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Hospice Chaplain Kirk Statler officiating. The service will be available via Livestream on the Beatty Peterseim's Facebook page. Following a light lunch at the funeral home, burial will be held at Brighton Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice.
Wanda Lou (Krantz) Nash was born on a farm west of Crawfordsville, Iowa, to Virgil and Mary M. Krantz on Nov. 1, 1942. She attended school in Olds, Ainsworth, Cotter, Crawfordsville and Afton, where she graduated from the East Union School in 1960. She was baptized in the Lutheran church and later joined the Methodist church. Wanda married William H. Nash, son of Marjorie and Herb Nash, on Aug. 6, 1960, in Brighton, Iowa. The couple moved to Downey, Iowa, in 1975, where they enjoyed life together raising their family and playing cards with neighbors. Bill passed away at home in 1994 with cancer. Wanda was employed by America College Testing Inc. in Iowa City, where she retired after 24 years. Her main enjoyment was being with her family. She also enjoyed doing crafts, fishing, going to the casinos, traveling and playing cards. She was an avid collector of various memorabilia and was a member of several card clubs in Afton and Creston.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary K. (Willis) Curry of Hannibal, Mo.; son, William J. (Lindsay) Nash of Tiffin, Iowa; five grandchildren, Jeremy (Ashia) Shoemate, Carson Nash, Cale Nash, Sarah Curry and Carley Jo Nash; one great-grandchild, Connor Shoemate; three brothers, Donald (Marilyn) Krantz of Waynesville, Mo., Jim (Jan) Krantz of Afton, Iowa, and Kenneth (Deb) Krantz of Kendallville, Ind.; brother-in-law, Charles Rucker of Virginia Beach, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Wanda in death were her parents; her husband; her daughter, Teresa; her sister, Wilma J. Rucker; and an infant sister.
