Wanda Schultz, 91, of Winfield, Iowa, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019, at Sunrise Terrace in Winfield. Funeral service will be
11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at the Honts Funeral Home in Winfield. Burial will be in the Crawfordsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Sunrise Terrace.
Wanda Faye Messer was born Feb. 16, 1928, in Rubio, Iowa, the daughter of James Lawrence and Pearl (Haifley) Messer. She graduated from Olds High School where she and her sister, Bernice played on the basketball team. Wanda was known for her famous hook shot. On April 9, 1946, Wanda was united in marriage to Raymond Paul Schultz in Pleasant Plain, Iowa. Wanda worked at McCleery Cummings, Advanced Ross Electronics in Washington and Metromail in Mount Pleasant. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Columbus Junction and the Crawfordsville White Cloud Club. She enjoyed camping, Old Threshers, fishing, watching the grandchildren play ball, crocheting afghans for each grandchild, wearing matching sweatshirts and having her nails done with her sisters, Pepsi, Peppermint Patties, family dinners, opening lots of gifts at Christmas and the Chicago Cubs.
Wanda will be deeply missed by her sister, Bernice Lee; her children, Edward (Joyce) Schultz of Muscatine, Darrell (Faye) Schultz of Mount Pleasant, Teresa (Roger) Sommer of Winfield and Kathy (Stan) Richardson of Washington; 10 grandchildren, Jenny (Frank Ferrucci) Schultz, Darrin Schultz, Jessica (Jesse) Harris, Heidi (Jordan) Oschwald, Leah (Devin) Keenan, Sarah (Brad) Buffington, Jake (Andrea) Sommer, Erin (Shannon) Rugg, Amanda (Jesse) Medrano and Emily Richardson; 16 great-grandchildren, Dylan, Alivia, Olivia, Emory, Jonas, Crosby, Lennon, Finley, Lance, Nora, James, Brandi, Isaac, Alayna, Blayze and Easton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond, in 2008; sister, Fern (Marion) Howell; brother, Charlie (Dee) Messer; and brother-in-law, Ivan Lee.
