Warren Edward Slagel

      KALONA - Warren Edward Slagel, 87, of Wayland, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, in the Parkview Home in Wayland.

      Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, in the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church with the Rev. Nathan Luitjens officiating. Burial will be in the Sugar Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be at 5 p.m. Friday in the church where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church, Hospice of Central Iowa and Parkview Home. Peterseim Funeral Home of Kalona is in charge of the arrangements.

      Mr. Slagel was born Nov. 19, 1921 in Michigan, the son of Elmer and Sarah (Conrad) Slagel. He married Vernelda Widmer on Nov. 10, 1946 in St. John's, Mich.
