Warriors' big inning paves way to rout of Comets
ELDON ? The Van Buren baseball team scored 12 fourth-inning runs to rout Cardinal 21-9 in an SEISC South Division contest Tuesday in Eldon.
The Warriors (12-7, 7-2 South) were in a close, 9-7 battle with the Comets until the fourth-inning explosion.
Kris Rader, Trent Hardin and Corbin Millard each had three hits in the team's 19-hit attack, while Bill Randolph, Clint Cunningham, Lewis Russell and Spencer Bartholomew each had two hits.
Randolph doubled and drove in a team-high four runs, while MIllard added three and Rader, Grant Carter and Cunningham with two apiece. Four other players had an RBI as well.
Millard stayed undefeated this season, improving to 5-0 after fanning five and walking five over five innings. Six of Cardinal's runs were earned.
Caleb Kildow took the loss for the Comets, but went 3 for 4 at the plate. The teams combined for 12 errors.
