Wendell Eugene Watkins, 77, of rural Farmington, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, at his home.
Visitation begins at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home and Crematory in Farmington, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Sharon Presbyterian Church in rural Farmington, with the Rev. Daniel Hemken officiating. Burial will be in the Sharon Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the Local Under Privledged Children Fund.
Wendell was born April 30, 1930 in rural Primrose, the son of Fred K. and Cora E. Kelly Watkins. On Dec. 12, 1948, he married Geraldine Louise Haffner at the Sharon Presbyterian Church.
He served as a cemetery trustee and an active member in the Presbyterian Mariners Club. Wendell was very proficient; he was a craftsman in woodworking, metal, plumbing and electrical work. He loved the land and also enjoyed traveling, participated in square dancing and enjoyed children, family and friends.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Judy Beger and her husband Jim of West Point and Sharon Andrusyk and her husband Dave of Ft. Madison; one sister, Martha Houge of Story City; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
