Wesley Warren Willey
Wesley Warren Willey, 75, of 211 Sunset Drive in New London, died at 7:25 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2000, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, at Elliott Chapel in New London with the Rev. Tom Henstock and the Rev. Carl Willey officiating. Interment will be in the Burge Cemetery in New London. Friends may call anytime today at Elliott Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening. A memorial has been established.
Mr. Willey was born on Dec. 6, 1924, in Henry County, the son of John Raymond and Nellie Mae Beames Willey. He married Lucille Madden Willey on Nov. 14, 1942 in Kahoka, Mo. He attended schools in New London. He was a self-employed insurance salesman for over 30 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #579 in Burlington and was of the Protestant faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time with his family. He also loved music and played in bands with many different instruments.
Survivors include his wife of New London; one son, Wesley W. Willey of New London; three daughters, Connie L. Havener of DeWitt, Peggy A. Byrum of Mt. Union and Karen R. Johnson of New London; two brothers, Frank Willey of Montrose and John Willey of New London; one sister, Alice Lopez of Chicago, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and three brothers.
