Wilbur "Webb" Putnam, 86, of Burlington, formerly of Versailles, IL, died at 4:09 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at Great River Hospice House.
Born May 30, 1934, in Brown County, IL, he was the son of Roy and Veleda (Petri) Putnam. He married Karen Pickle August 29, 1959.
Webb graduated from Brown County High School. He served in the United States Marine Corp. Jan. 22, 1954 to Jan. 21, 1957. He attained rank of Sergeant, serving in Korea, Hawaii and Oceanside, CA. He worked as a mechanic, owning and operating Webb's Alignment for 51 years.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Marine Corp., and the Southeast IA Ridge Blaster Snowmobile Club.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Karen Putnam of Burlington; five children, Allen (Pamela) Putnam of Lawrenceburg, IN, Kendall Putnam of Burlington, Mark (Michelle) Putnam of Mt. Union, IA, Deanna Boyle (Doug Peitz) and the late Bernie Boyle of Danville, IA, and Karla Walkup of Fontana, CA; 10 grandchildren, Bradley (Stephanie) Putnam, Clinton (Donna) Putnam, William (Tara) Putnam, Keith Putnam, Kristin Reyes, Marc Walker (late Meagan Walker), Benjamin (Rachel) Putnam, Jenna (CJ) Gosney, Danielle (Ryan) Miller and Andy Boyle; eight great-grandchildren, Branton, Elijah, Liam, Colton, Grayson, Elliott, Adley and Dominic; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Bernie Boyle; granddaughter, Meagan Walker; 11 brothers and sisters, Delbert, Leroy, Robert, Dorothy, Glen, Joan, Leona, Leota, Carl, Clyde and Caroline.
The funeral service for Mr. Putnam will be 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 10th at Lunning Chapel. Rev. Dean Graber will officiate. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. until the time of service, where family will receive friends.
Cremation will be accorded following the visitation and has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel.
Inurnment will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 12th, at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Hamilton Walters Marine Corps League, Detachment 616 will provide military rites.
