William A. Tackenberg June 5, 1923 - October 16, 2005

      Col. William A."Bill" Tackenberg, 82, of Mt. Pleasant , died Sunday evening Oct. 16, 2005 at the New London Care Center.

      Funeral services will be held on Friday Oct. 21, at 10 a.m. at the Iowa National Guard Armory in Mt. Pleasant. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be held in Forest Home Cemetery will full military honors conducted by the Henry County Honor Guard. A memorial has been established in his memory.

      He is survived by his daughters, Andrea and her husband Dwayne Wright and Dana and her husband Steve Blow, both of New London; one son: Eric and his wife Julie Tackenberg of Wapello; eight grandchildren.; and one brother Robert Tackenberg of Overland Park Kan.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son Mark and one brother Richard.
