William “Bill” Denzel Tompkins passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, IA.

A funeral service will be held at Sharon Center United Methodist Church in rural Kalona, IA at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. Burial will be at the at church cemetery. Visitation was on Monday, February 20, at Beatty & Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona, IA.

Bill was born October 3, 1957 to Richard “Dick” and Helen “Fran” (Sheimo) Tompkins in West Des Moines, IA.

He was united in marriage to Cathie Sue Stutsman on July 1, 2006 at Sharon Center.

Bill is survived by his wife, Cathie Stutsman; his daughters, Grace (Matthew) Parlette (Phoenix, AZ), Emily (Matthew) Bothell (West Liberty, IA), Audrey (Brendan) McKasy (Seattle, WA), Anne Stork (Peter McCarthy; Iowa City, IA), Jayne Berglund (Chad Barker; Tacoma, WA) and Sara (Seth) Widdes (Phoenix, AZ); six grandsons; one step-granddaughter; his brothers, Richard (Cynthia) Tompkins (Mason City, IA), Ronald (Coleen) Tompkins (Phoenix, AZ) and Donald (Jill) Tompkins (Iowa City, IA); 10 nephews; two nieces; and former wives, Brenda (Bauer) Wheat and Patricia (Kayser).

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Adam Jones; niece, Sara Jayne Tompkins; nephew, Richard Norton Tompkins III; and great-great-nephew, Rhett Jay Dreyer.
