William “Bill” Lynn Larkin, 82, of North Liberty, Iowa, died from complications associated with dementia, on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Windmill Manor Nursing Home in Coralville, Iowa.

Per Bill’s request, there will be no funeral services. He will be cremated, and his ashes privately spread, at a later date. Memorials can be sent to Charla Howard, 701 Perdock Ct., Washington, IA 52353.

Bill was born December 9, 1941, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of William “Bud” Larkin and Marjorie V. (Holmes) Larkin. In 1951, the family moved to Columbus Junction, Iowa, where they owned the Western Auto Store on Main Street and were members of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. In 1960, Bill graduated from Columbus Community High School. On August 13, 1960, he was united in marriage to Myrna Corrine Frisk, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lone Tree. After Myrna’s passing, Bill was united in marriage in 2018, to Judy Roberts in Wayland, Iowa.

Bill took over running the Western Auto store after his father passed. Over the years, Bill had several business ventures in Muscatine, Iowa, along with organizing many art shows for his wife. Bill was an avid follower of his children and grandchildren’s school and sports activities. In his later years, Bill became a bus driver and aide for the L-M School District. Bill enjoyed golfing, watching the Chicago Bears and Iowa State Cyclones, and going to the horse, dog tracks and casino!

Bill will be dearly missed by his wife, Judy (Roberts) Larkin of North Liberty; his children, Christina Kerr of Riverside, Iowa, William Curtis (Lora) Larkin of Granger, Iowa, Carrie Ornduff of Washington, Iowa, Charla (Steve) Howard of Washington, Iowa, Carl Larkin of Ankeny, Iowa, and Carmen (Jake) Pohren of Pleasant Plain, Iowa; twelve grandchildren, Corrin (Seth) Cory, Keely Larkin and Kyra Larkin, Alec Ornduff, Deidre Dickinson, Lexi (Derek) Schroth, Jake (Maddie) Dickinson, Quentin Howard, Chane (Mallory) Larkin, Caitlin Larkin and Caleb Larkin, and Alia (Andrew) Simpson; twelve great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara High of Muscatine, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Myrna in 2010; son-in-law, Paul Kerr; and one grandchild in infancy.
